You choose your inspirations in life carefully and Bruce has been an inspiration to me for so long a time. Runrig have been the soundtrack of my life for over 35 years, and following Bruce for all of the last 25 years has been the most rewarding and enriching experience. My first show with Bruce was in the spring of 1999. What a wonderful performance, that was a hugely successful return to the Runrig fold, after two years wondering what the future held. Transformation and optimism led on to seeing Bruce with Runrig near 30 times in the following 20 years, until the Last Dance in 2018, last seeing him at the film launch in 2019. Runrig and Bruce’s voice brought comfort in so many difficult situations and punctuated significant life events. Wedding first dance to Every River, my father’s final journey signed off with The Old Boys. I could never have imagined seven short years on from that, to be an observer on Bruce’s own final journey. I am sorry I didn’t manage to meet Bruce personally, despite coming close a couple of times, and sorry not to have seen his own show live. There is great sadness, but great memories to treasure. My heartfelt condolences to you all, Kim, Dylan and Jodi. I hope the joy Bruce has brought to so many, and that which he will continue to bring in years to come from the legacy of all his work with Runrig and as a solo artist, will bring some comfort in the weeks and months to come. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.
