When I read other people’s stories and thoughts I am a little embarrassed (and sad) that my own Runrig story is quite a recent one – in a way. I have always liked Runrig but unfortunately, it was much too late before I woke up and seriously became aware of the value and qualities of their music. There was a long period of my life when I didn’t listen much to music of the Western World so it was only after they had ended their career that I discovered or “rediscovered” the band. Something which I have regretted so many times as I can see now how much I have missed. It happened when I was diagnosed with a condition which required me to train several times a week. I found training boring so I had to be entertained while doing it and started listening to my small collection of old CDs which had gathered dust from not being used for so long. Amongst these were two CDs with Runrig which were actually my favourites. After a while I thought I needed to expand my collection and decided to look for more Runrig music. And that is how I discovered Bruce. The first one I bought was their last one, The Story. I liked this so much that I had to buy another one and I got so fascinated by Bruce’s voice that I had to get more. Now I was really caught in their web and ended up buying most of their CDs and several DVDs including The Last Dance. I also bought one of Bruce’s own recordings, Celtic Crossing. I enjoy so much listening to this wonderful voice of his. I am so glad that Runrig found Bruce when they stood without a lead singer. Donnie Munroe was a hard one to substitute but Bruce could do it. I will continue to play these CDs and I am so grateful that it is still possible to hear his voice. It was heartbreaking news to hear about the passing of Bruce. It made me so sad. My deepest condolences to his family. And thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to follow Bruce’s funeral service and celebration of life through live-streaming. In the midst of the sorrow it felt good to see Dylan and Jodie perform. I enjoyed that.
