That voice !

It must have been early 2000 when I first heard that voice. I was not in a good place at that time and had lost touch with a number of things including Runrig. The voice blew me away it was so warm and rich and held Callum and Rory’s word so well. After that I saw the band in many places from castle esplanades, muddy fields, theatres and concert halls and ultimately in large grassy fields. Every venue be it large or small and every audience was different but each showed their love for Runrig and for their front man Bruce Guthro. It helped of course that he was absolutely gorgeous and I spent many hours at his feet gazing up at him!! I have never heard one voice ring out and hold a crowd in his hands till you could hear a pin drop as Bruce did.  Bruce’s love for the band and fans was evident and the energy he brought was infectious. My favourite concert is Party on the Moor simply because of its energy. His take on Runrig’s songs was incredible and he made them his own while contributing some of his own writing. Bruce was such a kind and gentle soul who restored my faith in people. I have made lifelong friendships all around the world thanks to this band and I thank those that have sent messages to me. Bruce and I were only two weeks apart in age and as each birthday crept by we saw our 40’s 50’s and into our 60’s growing older together with the band and the fans. The messages of condolence and love have been many and heartfelt. Some in contrast to what was said when the band decided to retire and Bruce was felt to be responsible. I am pleased the band stopped when they did and that Bruce had those years to enjoy time with Kim and to take the stage with Dylan and Jodi. I thank you Bruce for being the soundtrack of my life for your friendship and humour and I will miss you xxx
