Thank you Bruce

I don’t remember a Runrig without Bruce. Hearing the stories of how he resurrected the band will leave me forever grateful that he flew over when he did. I grew up listening to Runrig and being lucky enough to see them live many times; Drumnadrochit, Scone, Edinburgh Castle on a couple of occasions, Usher Hall, 40th anniversary, Ironworks to name a few. However, the most special to me was Stirling 2018.

A weird feeling of apprehension where the usual feeling of excitement was, never wanting the day to arrive! Runrig for me was always time with family - car journey soundtracks or time together at concerts. Stirling was no different. My brother had travelled back from Australia and we had a weekend in Stirling planned with my mum, dad, sister and it was my boyfriends first live Runrig experience! He had certainly heard the songs enough to manage to sing along! It’s a night I will never forget.

Bruce’s voice never failed to mesmerise me, and the whole crowd, and perhaps that is a small part of why this news is so tragic. That, alongside his charismatic stage presence have left a huge void in this world. My thoughts are very much with his family, bandmates and friends, who he always spoke so fondly of, and everyone in Nova Scotia - can’t say that without reading it in Bruce’s voice!

I can’t thank Bruce enough for all of the hours we spent together - albeit with thousands of other people!! I am so grateful for Bruce and for Runrig. His legacy will live on and I for one will continue to enjoy sharing the brilliant soundtrack of my childhood with my own son, Rory.

Thanks for the memories. Taken far too soon.
May you rest in eternal peace, Bruce.
