Heb/Celt 2000.

Created by Wilma one year ago
I have always been a huge Runrig fan since the beginning and following them until The Last Dance Farewell Concert in Stirling. I was fortunate to see them live on many occasions. In 2000 I accompanied a group of young musicians from The Gaitherin in Aberdeenshire to Stornoway as they had been invited to play at the Heb/Celt festival club. Although we knew Runrig had a new singer we didn’t know who he was. In the afternoon the young musicians were practising and during a break a lovely Canadian joined us. My daughter was chatting with him and asked if he played anything to which he said I play guitar and sing a bit! A few moments later Malcolm Jones joined us and the penny dropped. The friendly Canadian was no other that the wonderful Bruce. How we laughed and still do at the question “Do you play anything?” He joined the band for a a couple of numbers borrowing a guitar from one of the girls. Ian joined on drums too. What a beautiful memory for these young people to have and a privilege to have met Bruce. He was amazing with the young people and a real inspiration. My sincere condolences to the family.
