The Stamping Ground .. where it all began.
Created by Jennifer Moore one year ago
I had heard Runrig songs for many years and most weekends my Dad would circle Runrig gigs upcoming in the newspapers, but I never went to any of them until I met my future husband and we decided to go with my parents to see the band in Sheffield. We had heard the voice of the band on CD’s until that night when we heard THE voice … i still remember goosebumps as he started to sing … this was Bruce. After this we were hooked. Mum & Dad went to as many local Lancashire gigs as they could and John & I went to the famous Glasgow Barrowlands amongst other Scottish venues, enjoying camping and going to as many gigs as and when we could, with The Year of The Flood in Drumnadrochit being the highlight until the final night in Stirling for The Last Dance. I recall going to see Runrig in Preston, Lancashire, and coming away more excited to have bought Bruce’s latest CD plus the amazing Bound for Bethlehem which is played every Christmas without fail come 1st December, and this will continue year on year. My late parents both had Runrig played at their funerals as a tribute. We thank Runrig for giving us Bruce and send our most sincere condolences to his family for sharing him and his music with us. RIP Bruce ❤️
