Runrig and Bruce forever!!!

Created by Carsten one year ago

Here's my "little" story of how I came to Runrig!

My father regularly listened to Runrig in the car, I basically grew up with it! Transmitting Live, Dance Called America and Protect and Survive had to be turned on again and again. Then Live AT Celtic Connection came out at some point and the guys really had a breakthrough with me with The Stamping Ground. The corresponding tour for the album took place in 2001. I was 12 at the time. Carsten? Do you want to come? Standing room? Can you do it? I was hot as fry grease! That's what happened in 2001, Bielefeld, PC69 (the air was better in a puma cage! 😂), over two hours... legs hurt and my voice broke early. 🤭🤣 It was awesome!
In the same year there was the Rockpalast on WDR. Dad had recorded it on VHS. A colleague of his recorded it for us on cassette and then burned it onto CD. The music ultimately had to go into the car. Help, what poor quality. Aaabut... Fuck it! Once in a lifetime! 😂 21 years later the CD comes out, officially... Thank you! 😂 The concert went up and down... MEGA!
2003 Proterra Tour... Where to? Clear! Into the PC69 grouch! 😂 My dad to me... it seems pretty dark, umbrella? I... Aaaah we don't need it. The sky turned pitch black. Just under the roof and the floodgates opened! 😂
In January we were on our graduation trip from school. I took lots of photos and created a slideshow afterwards. A song by Runrig had to be included. All the Miles was very well received in the class! 💪🏼
On April 15, 2005, “The Spring” tour followed and I graduated from secondary school. My biology teacher came into class late sometime a few months before when the pre-sales started and said that he just had to buy something. I didn't care, everyone else wanted to know why... Then he said... Nobody knows the band. When I then asked if it happened to be Runrig, my grade was secured! 😂 😂 At the graduation in the summer of 2005, I found out at the bar that a colleague of his also listens to Runrig. Loch Lomond even ran at the end!
December 3, 2005, The Christmas Concerts... Unfortunately my father couldn't... But hey, my two former teachers. The Wedding live was a blast!
About a year later on November 15th, 2007 we went back to Oberhausen with Dad.
March 6, 2010 then home game in Münster, 35 km away. Great concert as always. Unfortunately the sound wasn't good here, the first songs were heavily overdriven.
In December 2012 we went back to Oberhausen.
On November 11, 2016, the “The Story” tour was almost coming to an end.
But the last dance took place in Cologne... Lanxess Arena... 3 hours... I was deeply sad... I grew up with it... Was that it? Well the music lives on. They will definitely publish some stuff.

Because of the living conditions at my parents' house, I could never listen to music loudly. Through very stupid and fortunate circumstances, I can now do this in my house. Since the news came from Bruce, my goosebumps have been even more intense listening to Hearts Of Olden Glory or The Mighty Atlantic. The Ship Live is awesome and the studio version is blasting Running to the Light!

Thanks Runrig! Thanks Bruce! Thanks Donnie (even though I never saw him live)! And thank you for growing up with music! 🤩 I wish the Guthro family a lot of strength and all the best!!!

Unfortunately my wife doesn't like the music, but we still danced to All The Miles at our wedding. If I have children, I will try to ensure that music continues to live in the family!

You never left me all the miles
You were with me all the way
On every cloud that drifts by
Every wave my bow did break
