When I turned 16, a couple of my friends contacted Bruce to ask him if he’d wish me a happy birthday, and he took the time out of his day to do so. A month later I went to a Bruce signing at the Tønder Festival, timidly approaching to ask him to sign a cd, and he was so warm and welcoming, recognising me as “the birthday girl”. It meant so much to my young starstruck self and is just one example of many of the care and kindness he showed his fans.

I’m so thankful Bruce shared his musical talents with us all. He always seemed like he had a blast on stage, and it was always a joy to hear his masterful storytelling full of humour. His music has been a real gathering point for me and my family, from all the moments I’ve shared with my dad because of our shared favourite band, Runrig, to the cosy Christmas tradition of going to see Bruce’s Celtic Christmas shows with my mom, and I’m just really grateful for these moments.
